Otherwise, it was a good story with a number of nice twists and i still would recommend it.īest Fantasy that doesnt have a Wizard named Harry As a writer, i totally understand the need to 'flesh' out some characters to give the story depth, but sometimes, as a reader, its nice just to have a brief description of a minor character and then move on. Every time the plot would move a little bit forward, we would be treated with a new character that had to tell you a long story about either how they came to be where they were or some other anecdote that was supposed to point out a truth about life - most of which were completely unnecessary as the character was going to be gone, dead, or never seen or heard from again. But in this particular instance, there was so much wasted time/pages on inner monologues and side stories that it was a struggle to get through, even on audio. Yancey is an incredibly gifted writer and his words/sentences are always interesting and poignant. ![]() After reading/listening to the first two, i jumped into this one after taking a long break between his novels. ![]()
